Program Summary

The Urban Affairs Coalition’s Summer Youth Employment (SYE) program, provides paid summer job opportunities and support to youth ages 14-18 through the city of Philadelphia’s summer youth employment program. The six-week program runs from July through mid-August and includes career exposure, on-the-job mentoring and professional development.

Position Summary

UAC anticipates hiring two Clerks who will provide general office and clerical assistance across the program.

 

This is a seasonal position beginning in March and ending in August.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for entering and maintaining accurate participant data in the computer system, including an up-to-date and shared list of all program applicants, their application status, and other data;
  • Maintains and supports systems and processes to manage data and information for worksite recruitment and youth enrollment to track progress towards meeting our goals by the established deadlines;
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate and up-to-date list of worksites and potential worksites and assisting with worksite paperwork;
  • Supports the processes for the submission of worksite and youth enrollment files and tracks the approval status;
  • Follows established filing system for program participant files, worksite files, and other paperwork;
  • Responsible for compiling data for the creation of rapid, but highly accurate data reports for youth enrollment, worksite agreements, payroll processing;
  • Maintains client file confidentiality;
  • Photocopies materials;
  • Responds to requests for information and access files to retrieve data;
  • Provides insights and analysis of performance as it relates to program goals and objectives;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • The ability to type 40 words per minute;
  • Strong organization skills and extremely detailed-oriented;
  • Strong customer-service orientation with good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must be a team player, able to coordinate and share resources and data;
  • Must be able to multi-task while meeting programmatic benchmarks and deadlines;
  • Must be comfortable working with youth and young adults ages 14-18;
  • Must be willing to work some non-traditional hours, as needed; and
  • Must be a self-starter with good time management skills.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • A high school diploma/GED required;
  • A minimum of 2-3 years previous work experience preferred;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and have strong typing skills.
