Program Summary
The Youth Outreach Adolescent Community Awareness Program (YOACAP), is a program partner of the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC). Our agency’s mission is to enhance the quality of life and health for Philadelphians through community-based and culturally competent interventions. Since 1989, we have addressed health concerns, workforce development, and life skills in low-income, underserved communities. Today, our mission has expanded to help youth and young adults learn job readiness skills, academic achievement, and experience using technology.
Position Summary
The Site Director will be responsible for the implementation and general management of YOACAP’s OST program (after-school and summer camp) for students at Tilden Middle School. Responsibilities include program planning, coordinating daily activities, working directly with students, managing the Activities Leaders, and written evaluation of staff on a regular basis.
Project BUILD is designed to provide middle school youth with a diverse range of age-appropriate experiences, which assists in the development of personal competencies and skills through specific program content. Contextualizing program content through STEM and other interest areas will enhance youth engagement and program success. The program operates after school during the academic year and hosts a summer camp.
Project BUILD uses a facilitated club model with an emphasis on structured activities. Understanding the importance of youth having unstructured time, this is incorporated into the daily schedule with Fridays being Freedom Fridays. The Site Director will be responsible for the following program goals:
- Increase school engagement and positive educational outcomes
- Promote community outreach and ongoing engagement through service learning projects
- Help middle school aged youth prepare for high school and postsecondary education and employment
- Improve life skills and the quality and functionality of interpersonal relationships.
The Site Director must possess a vast knowledge of Google Classroom, Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Kahoot, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other digital platforms. The ability to lead clubs including but not limited to (book club, stem club, future ready, homework, and high school readiness).
The Site Director is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean program site; ensuring a high level of program quality, and working to establish a positive relationship with all program participants. The Site Director will manage staff and be a role model to the youth while upholding the philosophy of YOACAP standards and expectations.
Compensation is $45,000 annually and includes a full benefits package (health insurance, retirement plan with employer match, life and disability insurance, etc) and work cell phone. Hours are approximately 10am-6pm Monday through Friday.
