Program Summary

The Black Writers Museum (BWM) is a non-profit cultural arts and history museum that features exhibits of classic and contemporary Black Literature and its authors. Founded in 2010, in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA, the BWM has a mission of “providing a venue and forum for the public to celebrate, explore, and experience the wonders of writing and reading through the exhibition and study of Black Literature.” The BWM is a program partner of the Urban Affairs Coalition, which serves as its fiduciary agency.

Position Summary

The Administrative Assistant/Project Coordinator will work directly with the executive director assisting with clerical duties, general museum operations, and the coordination and implementation of museum projects and programming.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

General BWM operations and clerical duties: Opening and closing of museum; providing tours; maintaining regular museum tour and activity/program calendar; office work including filing, answering phone calls, taking and responding to voice mail messages, answering general museum programming and operations questions from the public; archival work including receiving and cataloguing all existing and incoming materials,  preparing and documenting outgoing materials, etc.; Coordinating and implementation of museum programs and activities.
