The School Reform Commission makes READ! by 4th Campaign the focus of its first Strategy, Policy, and Priorities meeting of the year

          On October 15, 2014, the READ! by 4th Campaign announced at a press conference that Brandon Boykin of the Philadelphia Eagles will be the Campaign's first celebrity spokesperson. Posters featuring Boykin have been created and will be distributed to children ages K-3rd in schools and programs across the city. Also, with the social media hashtag campaign #DoThe22 launch, parents and guardians can continue to support literacy by picking up a book and reading it with their children 22 minutes a day.

          With the success of this campaign, The School Reform Commission (SRC) is making the READ! by 4th Campaign the topic of discussion at its first Strategy, Policy, and Priorities meeting of the year. The meeting will be held Monday, November 3rd from 5-7pm at the School District's Education Center, 440 North Broad Street. The meetings are to educate the SRC and the public on pression education policy issues in the city. The meeting will proceed as follows:

  • Presentation of the School District's READ! by 4th strategy
  • Panel Presentation #1: Creating Effective Partners (followed by a group discussion)
  • Panel Presentation #2: Parent Engagement (followed by a group discussion)

A special invite is extended to parents, families, teachers, principals, literacy partners, and early childhood and out-of-school providers. Light refreshments will be served. Activities for young learners will also be provided. For event details, click here.
