Philadelphia, PA -- April 30, 2014--The Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) Program Partner, GALAEI: A Queer Latin@ Social Justice Organization, is raising money through the online giving platform, HIPGive to support their planned initiative "Outlet". HIPGive provides support for organizations in Latino communities across the country. Funds raised will help GALAEI enhance their capacity to unite and empower queer Latino youth.

Outlet will help Latino youth realize their potential to make a difference in their lives and in their communities. Outlet will reach primarily low-income queer Latino youth living in underserved neighborhoods, specifically in North Philadelphia.

GALAEI offers an "Individual Outlet" which provides individual coaching to help youth identify challenges faced in being a queer Latino as well as identify personal strengths or positive aspects of their life. A "Group Outlet" allows for youth to unite and combat feelings of isolation and loneliness to help build a sense of community and belonging. Through creating a "Community Outlet" youth are given a chance to express themselves and display their pride through an individual or collective piece of art.
