Don't Be a Victim! Learn How to Repair Your Home the Right Way

 

Philadelphia, PA, April 16, 2013– Are you looking to make home repairs for the spring and you need good advice and the right tools? Come learn how to deal with home repair contractors and learn what the typical scams are! The Community and Economic Development Division of the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) is hosting a Special Consumer Protection and Financial Education Forum, “Repairing Your Home the Right Way,” on Thursday, April 25, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at the Philadelphia Senior Center Auditorium, 509 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia.

Speakers include:

• Phae Howard, founder, executive director and home repair fraud prevention expert, The National Center for the Prevention of Home Improvement Fraud (NCPHIF), will let homeowners know the hidden dangers when dealing with contractors.

• Carlotta Bulls, Older Adult Protective Services, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, will be making a presentation about Elder Abuse, Financial Exploitation and Scams.

• Chanel Alexander, Urban Affairs Coalition, will be presenting UAC’s special home loan program, in collaboration with the City of Philadelphia and neighborhood banks, providing trustworthy options to Philadelphia residents looking to repair their homes.
