Position Summary: 

As Outreach Worker, this particular staff member will assist coordinator and support programming for Youth Recovery Mode Services. As an outreach worker for ODAAT Youth Services Division, the outreach worker can expect to help youth grow as individuals, and educate, empower and divert youth from drug exposure and/or use.

Youth Program Coordinator
Summer Hours: Monday through Friday 830 am to 430 pm / School Year: a varied schedule between 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm (Note: Subject to change due to company needs such as holiday events, weekend events for special events, trips, and scheduled programming)
Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

Support Program Coordinator with delivering services to at-risk youth and families this includes but not limited to:

  • Implement evidence based practices and tools such as Too Good for Drugs in a individual, group, or school setting
  • Document activity with youth and families and maintain a chart that captures individual and group setting notes, utilize the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria for assessment purposes, obtain pre and post data using Too Good For Drugs evidence based material, be familiar with a how to administer a biopsychosocial assessment, develop a service plan with a client and a complete a discharge summary with noted outcomes and referrals.
  • Support coordinator with sharing general information and referral services for mental health, recreation, housing, employment, education, health and other services to families and youth
  • Work collaboratively with youth, parents, youth service providers, schools, city officials and law enforcement to develop effective outreach that ensures that youth have access to programs, services and opportunities needed for healthy social and emotional development.
  • Initiate, develop and organize community outreach activities with youth in their communities. Facilitate connections between youth and job readiness training, educational supports, mental health services, etc
  • Attend/complete mandatory ODAAT, UAC, Early Intervention Learning Collaborative, ASAM, and OAS meetings, trainings, and in-service events, based on a pre-authorized schedule from supervisor
  • Other agency related duties as required or assigned
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
  • Bachelor’s is required in Social Work, Psychology, or Related degree;
  • Have completed ASAM training or a willingness to attend training upon hiring
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal skills and DAP (Data, Assessment, Plan) notation skills
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the life experiences and needs of at risk youth populations
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and negotiate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated relevant experience
  • Clear understanding of and commitment to a Harm Reduction and Motivational Interviewing approach
  • Clear understanding of and commitment to supporting diverse communities and cultures.
  • Must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Able to develop rapport, provide information, and refer with sensitivity to cultural issues and trauma
  • Display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently
  • Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision
