Program Summary: 
The Young Investors League (The League) Financial Coach position offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to provide personal financial coaching services to youth participating in the Summer WorkReady program. Financial coaching services will be offered on-site to youth participants over a 6-week period extending from July through mid-August. This position is part of a new collaborative pilot program between the Philadelphia Youth Network, the Urban Affairs Coalition’s Community and Economic Development Division, and the Summer WorkReady program. The primary roles of a financial coach are to empower clients to set their own goals. hold clients accountable to those goals; and focus attention on long-term behavior change.
Position Summary: 
Attend training on concepts of financial literacy, workshop facilitation, and cultural competency to deliver high-quality financial education to youth WorkReady participants. Develop and maintain meaningful, trusting personal relationships with active and potential youth. Practice effective communication and goal setting/coaching skills to interact with individuals in a respectful, nonjudgmental manner, keeping in mind the uniqueness of an individual’s attitudes, beliefs, and values regarding money. Coach, mentor, and motivate participants to identify their financial goals and to develop and implement the steps needed to achieve those goals. Become familiar with community resources and services so as to provide youth with referrals to other programs to achieve specific financial goals, such as understanding credit, budgeting for college, and investing. Work collaboratively with other financial coaches as needed; Ensure completion and maintenance of all client intake forms, privacy documents and other paperwork as needed. Set aside a daily and weekly time to ensure that all data entry is current and complete. Maintain strict confidentiality of customer information, actions, and records. Identify best practice resources and methods for delivering participant orientations, mentoring, workshops, and enrichment activities. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: 
Must be a flexible, communicative, and agile team player, able to coordinate and share resources and data. Knowledge of youth development and curriculum development. Strong customer-service orientation with good verbal and written communication skills. Strong organization skills and detail-oriented. Must be able to multi-task while meeting programmatic benchmarks and deadlines. Must be comfortable working with youth and young adults ages 14-21. Must be willing to work some non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Must be a self-starter with good time management skills
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field required. A minimum of 2-5 years previous work experience preferred. Experience mentoring and/or teaching youth and young adults ages 14-21 preferred. Experience developing and implementing curriculum and professional development preferred. Experience working in the nonprofit sector preferred.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and have strong typing skills Internet-savvy and able to use smartphone- and laptop-based financial coaching tools to enter data and support client Preferre. Some experience with and understanding of topics related to financial literacy, such as financial goal setting, budgeting, credit building/rebuilding, and asset development preferred (however, coaches will receive thorough training on these topics) Special Note: This position requires a criminal background check, child abuse clearance, and FBI fingerprint-based background check
