Position Details
Program Summary: 

SELF is a non-profit organization that has been providing services to people for over twenty (20) years. We offer a broad range of essential housing, social services, vocational and employment programs, all designed to help individuals achieve self-sufficient and productive lifestyles. We provide these services to more than  7,000 individuals within the Philadelphia area.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

Responsible for conducting daily rounds of entire facility to identify areas to be cleaned and repaired and reporting findings to Maintenance Supervisor.

Responsible for using proper methods and materials in cleaning and otherwise caring for buildings and equipment.
Responsible for maintaining a safe physical environment which includes using floor signs  when cleaning the floor, inspecting the fire extinguishers , smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, exit signs and ceiling lights to ensure they are working properly and promptly reporting findings to the Program Manager.
Responsible for cleaning inside the building and the outside parking lot.
Responsible for following policy and procedure for rodent and insect invasion.
Mop/scrub floors, wax/polishes floor and furniture, dusts furniture, cleans/polishes brass, clean lavatories and replace lavatory supplies, dispose all waste materials.
Responsible for cutting grass, trimming hedges, shoveling snow, sweeping and cleaning walks, and  assisting in keeping outside premises in an orderly condition.
Responsible for the operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other janitorial equipment as well as making simple repairs to janitorial equipment.
Responsible for maintaining inventory of all furniture, equipment, linen, supplies, etc. and submitting updates as required.
Exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.
Work effectively with fellow co-workers and others.
Possess sufficient physical strength to work long hours, move furniture and equipment and perform custodial tasks.
Responsible for attending scheduled and unscheduled staff and departmental meetings, supervisions and Community Meetings and training as directed.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

2 years' experience working in programs with residential facilities and provide services to individuals  who may  have challenges that include homelessness, substance abuse and mental health, or have other barriers to self sufficiencyEXPERIENCE:

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED in combination with an acceptable level of training and 2 years of experience in maintenance performance functions.
Must be well organized, detail-oriented, tasks-driven and able to work independently and set daily priorities by maintaining a weekly as well as a monthly schedule.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and willingness to assist whenever needed.
Criminal and Child Abuse clearance will be required.
