Position Summary: 
The Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) is currently looking for a Human Resources Intern to assist with the Summer Youth Employment (SYE) for UAC’s Summer Youth Program from the beginning of March until the end of August. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for supporting the Summer Youth Program in the hiring of staff to support and place approximately 1400 youth in summer jobs throughout the Philadelphia area. This includes: recruitment, new hire orientation, background clearances, etc.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: 
Provide human resources/administrative support to the Summer Youth Program in the following areas;
  • Assist with the recruitment of staff. This includes posting the positions on the UAC website, as well as other employment websites, conduct new hire orientations, and background clearances;
  • Assist parents and youth with their SYE applications;
  • Prepare and maintain youth files while maintaining compliance and confidentiality;
  • Provide assistance with the Summer Youth Program special events and end of program event;
  • Schedule meetings, trainings, and employment interviews as requested;
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Perform daily filing of materials for staff and youth files;
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
  • Must be able to handle HR issues/concerns in a discreet and confidential manner;
  • Must be willing and have the ability to learn the ADP Time & Attendance;
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be detailed-oriented and creative;
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of staff and youth in a professional manner;
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Must be able to type, proofread letters, and input data in the computer system with a high level of accuracy;
  • Must have an outgoing personality, be flexible, and can work independently and in a team environment.
  • An Associates’ Degree in Human Resources preferred;
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in Human Resources preferred;
  • Experience in database management;
  • Ability to multi-task.
