The Director of Food & Beverage provides strategic and operational leadership, guidance, direction, and tactical expertise on food & beverage concepts. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, thorough knowledge of food & beverage operations and an interest in following and adapting to current food and beverage trends.

Position Summary: 
  • Responsible for all food and beverage operations, including a la carte dining, lounge, room service, banquet operations, pool club and co-working spaces
  • Consistently reviewing operating standards and practices and making enhancements as required.
  • Participate in preparation of annual budget, maintaining monthly forecast and achieving department financial objectives
  • Interact with members and their guests, develop awareness of members likes and preferences
  • Maintain communication with all departments to ensure guest service needs are met
  • Responsible for the selection, training and development of key personnel within the food and beverage department
  • Maintain profitability of department to achieve overall club objectives
  • Manage prime cost line items to protect against waste and misuse
  • Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory
  • Evaluate cost effectiveness of all aspects of operation
  • Develop and implement cost saving and profit enhancing measures
  • Participate in bi-weekly team meetings and collaborate with culinary director and director of ops on the agenda for the meeting
  • Conduct follow up touch base meetings with individual managers to insure performance metrics are being evaluated and maintained
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Food & Beverage Director or as a manager for a multi-unit restaurant & lounge at a luxury hotel, private club or equivalent
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to supervise staff, including, assignment of duties, evaluating service, and conducting disciplinary action as required
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data, figures
  • Possess good computer skills, proficient in Excel, Word and knowledge of operating POS systems
  • Thorough knowledge of multi-unit food and beverage operations
  • Knowledge of food, wine and spirits with experience purchasing alcohol in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Budgetary analysis capabilities required
  • Knowledge of food service techniques and cost controls such as manpower, productivity, food cost and other expenses
