Program Summary: 
Councilman Domb serves as the Chairman of the Committee on Housing, Neighborhood Development, and The Homeless and the Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Licenses and Inspections. Councilman Domb’s legislative and policy priorities include: growing the tax base and strengthening the local economy by lowering the poverty rate, attracting new businesses and residents and generating new employment opportunities; collecting delinquent tax dollars owed to the City and the School District; and, implementing strategies and solutions that create a more fiscally-responsible and efficient government. Additionally, Councilman Domb is also donating his entire City salary to support initiatives within Philadelphia public schools.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: 
Responsibilities Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Communications Aide is a member of the Councilman’s staff and would be responsible for all communications and correspondence. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
  • Drafting and disseminating of Op-Eds, press releases/media advisories to other Councilmembers and staff; all local news outlets and national as needed;
  • Posting press releases to PHL Council website
  • Arranging press appearances (radio, TV, print) and other meetings as appropriate
  • Coordinating media coverage of events  
  • Working on quarterly newsletter in collaboration Constituent Services Department
  • Collaborating with Council digital media and graphic design teams to produce flyers, PSA’s etc.
  • Collaborating with Studio 64 staff (7th floor) to produce quarterly TV show for City’s local government channel
  • Attending speaking engagements and/or other events with the Councilman and or on his behalf including evening events and appearances
  • Accompanying Councilman Domb to every Council Session, on all community visits and media appearances including evening events and appearances
  • Managing and overseeing all of Councilman Domb’s social media pages
  • Acting as curator of all photos/videos taken during engagements, Council Sessions, etc.
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
Requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or comparative education or Associate’s Degree with multiple years of experience in the related field
  • Strong writing background with demonstrated skills and experience
  • Familiarity with and interest in local government
  • Team member mentality with a willingness to work independently in a demanding environment
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion while communicating with multiple constituencies
