Fiscal Sponsorship Model is on a Tear

When the West Chester Food Cupboard started up last year to provide food to needy families in Chester County, demand for its services was high and growing rapidly. Within a year, demand was up 50 percent and the nonprofit was feeding more than 400 households and 1,300 people each month.

The startup, run entirely by volunteers, could have been swamped in administrative details had it not been partnered with the Urban Affairs Coalition.

Global Citizen is a non-profit organization dedicated to civic engagement among diverse groups through volunteering, education, community building, service learning, economic opportunity, leadership development and dialogue. Global Citizen brings together people of all ages and backgrounds through active citizenship and civic responsibility that result in breaking down barriers, building understanding, and fostering ongoing, diverse partnerships. On Friday, November 21, 2014, UAC celebrated 45 years of driving change from the ground up at its 45th Anniversary Breakfast in Center City Philadelphia. Newly elected Governor Tom Wolf attended the event and spoke to nearly 1,000 attendees about the importance of building healthy cities for a healthy commonwealth.
